I found this article recently about the peanut butter recall and the peanut butter factory currently under investigation, and you may not want to read it if you find that the reasons for salmonella contamination tend to make you nauseous. Consider yourself warned, because hey, I like people to actually come back to this website.... :)
In this even more recent article, there is this discouraging line:
" Now the recall includes the same products, but now dating back two years. "
Hope no one's storage is affected, but two years is a long time--better to check and be safe!

Are my jars of peanut butter safe?? I sure hope so.
Bullseye--I would like to say yes, but even if I knew for sure today, the scary thing about this whole recall is that they keep expanding it, so what I say today may not be accurate tomorrow. The best I can do is say that I hope your jars of peanut butter are safe, and to keep an eye out--sorry!
Yes, Marie, so far regular peanut butter is is safe. Another argument for not buying processed food and stocking up on basic ingredients to make things yourself from scratch!
The things that are happening to our food supply are frightening!
Carla--That is good to know--it seems like the different places I have read about it have said the jars are safe, but some have said "major brands", whatever the gauge for that might be--so I hope all the jars are safe, since that's what I keep in my storage... :)
It is scary to hear about the things in the food supply--last year it was supposedly the tomatoes, this year the peanut butter...thanks for your comment!
The owners of Kroger brand just announced that they were going to be recalling some of their items.
Anonymous--I'll have to keep an eye out for that--thanks for the heads up!
